The Brookneal Catfish Tournament Returns Spring 2025
BROOKNEAL CATFISH TOURNAMENT
THE BEST FISHING ON THE STAUNTON RIVER
The Brookneal Fishing Tournament, nestled along the Staunton River, provides anglers an unmatched experience. As one of the most anticipated events of the year, Brookneal draws fishing enthusiasts from far and wide to test their skills in these waters. The Staunton River provides an abundance of diverse fish species, including trophy-sized catfish, bass, and trout. Along with its winding paths and hidden coves, the Staunton River truly stands out as a premier destination for fishing enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable experience.
13 YEARS OF BIG CATS
The Brookneal Catfish Tournament started in 2011 and is hosted by the Staunton River Masonic Lodge. Initially the tournament was held later in the summer, but was moved to coincide with the Brookneal Striped Bass Tournament to grow both tournaments. Fishermen can now compete in both tournaments on the same weekend. Since catfish are plentiful in the Staunton River year-round, merging the timing of the tournaments was a great opportunity to offer a full weekend of competitive fishing. Register in person on Friday for the Catfish and Striped Bass Tournaments.
